The Presidential Library — to the birthday anniversary of the Leningrad Oblast

Cultural, outreach and awareness-raising event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Leningrad Oblast will be held in the Presidential Library on July 21, 2017 at 12 pm. Top management of the Leningrad Oblast mass media will attend the ceremony.

The event participants will visit an electronic reading room and an exhibition gallery, a conference hall, television broadcasting facility, scanning center and a printing house. Within the scope of the occasion, an electronic collection of rare documents on the history of the Leningrad Oblast and the St. Petersburg Province starting from the XVIII century up to now will be featured. In the agenda are a meeting of heads of mass media of the Leningrad Oblast with the General Director of the Presidential Library Alexander Pavlovich Vershinin and the reviews of new projects.

The cooperation of the Presidential Library and the Leningrad Oblast is actively developing. According to signed in 2014 by the General Director of the Presidential Library Alexander Pavlovich Vershinin and the Governor of the Leningrad Oblast Alexander Yuriyevich Drozdenko agreement, an exchange with documents and materials is going on, joint projects in the educational, cultural, outreach and awareness raising spheres are being implemented, and a digitization of unique historical documents is under way. For instance, the Presidential Library stock, which currently accounts for more than 550,000 entries, is already available and actively used by residents of Vyborg, Kirov, Priozersk, Tikhvin, Lodeynoye Pole, Gatchina, Anninsky Rural Settlement and the town of Slantsy. In addition, the access centers to the resources of the Presidential Library are arranged in the Leningrad Regional Universal Scientific Library and the Leningrad Regional Institute for the Development of Education. It stands to mention that as part of the agreement between the Presidential Library and the Leningrad Oblast, launching of the remote reading rooms of the Presidential Library is planned in every municipality in the region.
