Regions of Russia: The photo exhibition “Manors of Ryazan Government of the XIX century”

13 July 2017

Photo exhibition "Homesteads of the Ryazan province of the XIX century" was opened on July 12, 2017 in the Museum-Reserve "Manor of S. N. Khudekov" (the Ryazan region).

The exhibition presents photographs of several large manors of the Ryazan province of the XIX century. Visitors will get familiar with the concept of "manor" and the features of each of the estates, they will see the architecture of past centuries, will imbue the atmosphere of that time, and will also learn about the people who lived in these manors.

The estates of the Ryazan province were genuine cultural centers. They were located in the most beautiful natural landscapes, perfectly in harmony with them. In the manors there were magnificent libraries, a huge number of paintings by Western European and Russian artists, sculptures. Almost all large estates there were musical centers, schools for serfs were opened in them. Almost every manor had its own temple, where the services were conducted. The manor church could be considered a local center of spiritual enlightenment.

Unfortunately, not all estates have survived to our time. Many of them were lost during the revolution of 1917, many did not spare time, so it is so important to know and remember that in the Ryazan land there are still Big Aleshnya, Bykova Gora, Issada, Kiritsa and many others.
