Memory of Russia: Monument to Prince Vladimir is erected on Valaam

On the island of Valaam, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, a monument to the Grand Duke Vladimir was erected, “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” reports. As expected, today the island will be visited by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

"The installation of the monument took place on the day of the holy saints of the first monks Valaam Sergiy and Herman, which was celebrated on July 10", the publication says. The monument to the holy prince Vladimir is made of bronze in the workshop of the famous sculptor Andrei Klykov and installed on a granite pedestal.
