10 August 2017

In the Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia (Moscow), from August 10 to November 12, 2017 is taking place the exhibition "Bagration - the name of Victory", dedicated to the memory of the general from the infantry of P. I. Bagration and timed to the 205th anniversary of his death from a wound received in Battle of Borodino.

The exposition features not only the most famous military commander, but also about how his name lives in the centuries, symbolizing honor and military prowess. Visitors of the exhibition are invited to look at Peter Ivanovich Bagration with the eyes of different people.

Works of fine art from the funds of the Panorama Museum "The Battle of Borodino" tell about the lifetime glory of the commander. These are graphic portraits made by such artists-engravers. There are also graphic sheets depicting the battles which P. I. Bagration took part in. And next - a view from the XX century - bust of the commander of the 2nd Western Army in 1812, General Bagration, the work of sculptor P. I. Bondarenko (1963).

The section of the exhibition dedicated to the memory of General Bagration includes items of arts and crafts and numismatics that captured the image of the commander. This is a jubilee medal of the times of the USSR, a glass, in which a profile of the commander is depicted in the medallion.

A separate section of the exhibition is evidence of an offensive operation of the Great Patriotic War called "Bagration", held from June 23 to August 29, 1944 in Belarus, Poland and the Baltic states. The pictures of the war years of the Heroes of the Soviet Union, who took part in the operation, as well as their combat awards, tell about these events.
