The Presidential Library will present a collection of unique materials of the XIX and XX centuries on the history of the Vladimir region

May 13, 2018 at 10:00 the specialists of the Presidential Library will present an electronic collection of unique documents and materials of the XIX and XX centuries on the history of the Vladimir land in the M. Gorky Vladimir Regional Universal Scientific Library. The event will take place on the eve of the All-Russian Library Congress: the XXIII Annual Conference of the Russian Library Association, which this year will be held from 12 to 18 May in Vladimir.

Unique documents dedicated to the history of the Vladimir region: archival materials, rare books, maps, photographs, - all this diversity is represented in the new collection of the Presidential Library "The Vladimir Region: Pages of History".

One of the brightest rarities of the collection is the book of 1896 "Geography of the Vladimir province. The Course of Homeland", to which a manuscript map of the province is attached. In addition, this publication features descriptions of cities and counties of the Vladimir province, their sights. A detailed history of the city can be found in the book of 1881 by Vasily Kosatkin "Essay on the history of the city of Vladimir on the Klyazma".

The collection of the Presidential Library widely features the history of churches, cathedrals and temples of the Vladimir province Among them: the 1906 book of Vasily Kosatkin "Monasteries, cathedrals and parish churches of the Vladimir diocese, built before the beginning of the XIX century: brief historical information with the annexes of inventories of ancient objects preserved in them", "Album of Russian antiquities of the Vladimir province" in 1881, which contains drawings and plans of cathedrals, churches, monasteries and churches of Vladimir province. The collection also includes a photograph of 1850 "The Temple and the Monastery, built by Ivan IV in honor of the capture of Kazan in the city of Kirzhach of the Vladimir province"

The reflection of the life of the people of Vladimir land in different periods of history can be found in Russian folklore, which is vividly represented in the collection of the Presidential Library. For example, you can get familiar with collections of proverbs, sayings, songs, tongue-twisters of the Vladimir province. The earliest edition dates back to 1815.

The participation of the residents of the Vladimir province and the heroism of the Russian army during the Patriotic War of 1812 is demonstrated by the handwritten text "The case of the year 1812 on the formation of 12 regiments in the Vladimir province", which contains documents related to the logistical support of the active army, all reports and messages to the Minister of Police Governors, as well as lists of things needed to supply the army.

The collection also presents materials on the visit of the region by the first persons of the Russian state. Among them: "Travel of the Tsar to the heir of the Tsarevich Alexander Nikolayevich in 1837 in the Vladimir province", "The case of preparing a visit to the end of May - early June 1913 by an imperial name of the Vladimir province""On the preparation of the journey of Nicholas II to places associated with the accession of Mikhail Feodorovich Romanov. Brief statistical information about the Vladimir province" and others.

The Presidential Library pays much attention to the materials revealing the history of the regions of the Russian Federation. Currently, regional electronic collections contain documents on all 85 subjects of our country. In addition, to date, the Presidential Library has opened more than 520 remote access centers in all regions of Russia.
