The Music of the Era of the Last Emperor of Russia to be performed in the Presidential Library

November 7, 2018, at 19pm the Presidential Library (Senate Square, 3) will host the regular concert of the musical and educational project “Music of the Russian Statehood” dedicated to the era of Emperor Nicholas II.

The reign of Nicholas II was marked by an extraordinary rise of national culture. It was a real boom of Russian art in the world, the peak of the popularity of Russian musicians, artists, ballet groups. One can realize the scale of the era by mentioning such names as Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Glazunov, Chaliapin, Sobinov, Nezhdanov; Vasnetsov, Nesterov, Vrubel, Repin, Surikov, Serov, Bilibin, Kustodiev, Kuindzhi. The stars of the Russian ballet A. P. Pavlov, M. F. Kshesinskaya, V. F. Nizhinsky received world fame...

One of the most prominent pianists of our time, Polina Osetinskaya will present the music of the era of Nicholas II at the concert in the Presidential Library.

The great voices of the Fatherland will be performed by laureates of international contests - soloist of the Academy of Young Opera Singers Angelica Minasova and Honored Artist of the Republic of Karelia, soloist of the Academy of Young Singers of the Mariinsky Theater, leading soloist of the Musical Theater of the Musical Comedy Vladimir Celebrovsky.

The Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto № 2 - the music that is considered to be highlight of the composer’s work will be performed.

Guests of the concert will also have a unique opportunity to learn the music, authored by the members of the royal family.

Historian Alexander Myasnikov will tell little-known facts about Nicholas II and his creative character.

The project “Music of the Russian Statehood” is a cycle of ten multimedia concerts, which has been implemented using a grant of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society provided by the Presidential Grants Foundation.

All the events take place in the Presidential Library.

The concert will be broadcasted live on the Presidential Library’s portal in “Live Broadcasts” section.
