The Presidential Library to set out in search of the protagonist of "Idiot" novel

On April 23, 2019 at 11:00, the third lecture from the cycle devoted to the life and career of Fyodor Dostoevsky will be held at the Presidential Library within the framework of the Knowledge of Russia video lecture. The topic of the current meeting is “The search for the main character of the Dostoevsky’s novel “Idiot” on the basis of the writer's rough copies”.

The novel was first published in the magazine Russkiy Vestnik in 1868. "Idiot" was one of the most beloved works of the writer, most fully expressed his moral and philosophical position and art principles of the 1860s. Three notebooks with preparatory materials for the novel have come down to our days (first published in 1931).

Leading researcher of the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philology, Professor Konstantin Barsht will give a lecture at the Presidential Library. In the course of the meeting, attendees will be able to learn interesting facts about one of the most significant works of Dostoevsky, get familiar with the electronic images of his manuscripts, ask questions to the lecturer and take part in the discussion.

The event will be available live on the Presidential Library’s portal and in the official group of the Presidential Library in VKontakte social network.
