The Presidential Library’s webinar illustrates life and exploits of Alexander Nevsky

On June 30, 2020, at 10:00, the Presidential Library's portal will host an online webinar dedicated to the personality and exploits of Alexander Nevsky. The legend of the Grand Prince, commander and saint of the Russian Orthodox Church Alexander Nevsky is one of the most important subjects of Russian cultural and historical memory, an example of patriotism. The famous Battle on the Ice and the maintenance of a peace treaty in relations with the Horde khans made Alexander Nevsky an immortal symbol of the military and diplomatic successes of Russia. The webinar participants will be presented with the biographies of the Grand Prince, a detailed description of the fighting in the Battle of the Neva (1240) and Lake Peipsi (1242), Words on the Day of the Holy Righteous and Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky and the reports of the Orthodox Brotherhood of the Holy Right Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky, founded in 1885 in the city of Vladimir.

These and many other historical materials are available in more than 1000 remote access centers opened in all constituent entities of the Russian Federation and 30 foreign countries. The electronic collections of the Presidential Library, numbering about 900 thousand depository items, are publicly available.

Webinars of various subjects are regularly held in the Presidential Library via video-conferencing mode. Thanks to them one can discover the unique collections of the national electronic repository, learn about rare historical documents, publications and other materials that are little known to a wide audience.

The webinar will be broadcasted live on June 30 from 10:00 (Moscow time) in the “Live Broadcasts” section on the Presidential Library’s portal. Please note that immediately before viewing the webinar in the section "Live Broadcasts" you need to update the page of the portal.
