8–9 February 2022

On February 8-9, 2022 at 12:00 Moscow time the Presidential Library will host video lectures spotlighting the modern Russian language as part of the cultural and educational project Knowledge of Russia.

On February 9, 1710 the first spelling reform carried out by Peter the Great was completed in Russia, which led to a rapid growth in the printing of Russian-language books.

The Presidential Library dedicates two lectures to this date by the candidate of philological sciences, researcher at the Vinogradov Institute of the Russian Language of the Russian Academy of Sciences, editor-in-chief of the Gramota.ru portal Vladimir Pakhomov.

On February 8, 2022 the lecture “Russian Language Today: New and Old Rules, Dictionaries, Reference Books” will focus on the rules that are currently in force in the Russian language, which dictionaries and reference books should be consulted, in which sources it is possible to learn how to write correctly in or any other particular case.

On February 9 at the lecture “The most common myths about the Russian language” Vladimir Pakhomov will talk about the most common misconceptions related to the Russian language and their refutation.

The video lectures are free. The lectures will be of interest to senior pupils, their teachers, philologists and anyone interested in the Russian language.

The information partner is the social network VKontakte. The lectures will be broadcast live exclusively in the group of the Presidential Library "VKontakte" and on the library's portal in the Live broadcasts section.
