Declassified chronicles of the Great Patriotic War of the first half of 1942 to be the topic of the conference at the Presidential Library

On February 22, 2022 at 10:00 the Presidential Library will host the III Scientific and Practical Conference “1942: The USSR Navy, the People's Commissariat of the Navy and N. G. Kuznetsov in the war at sea”.

The event, which will be held online, is free. The conference will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events and on the institution's YouTube channel.

The theme of the conference covers the events of the Great Patriotic War from January to July 1942. There will be performed speeches on the specifics of the combat activities of the People's Commissar of the Navy of the USSR in commanding the fleets, the actions of the forces of the Northern Fleet on the enemy's sea lanes during this period, the role of the sailors of the Volga flotilla in the defence of Stalingrad, the military operations of the marines in the defence and defence of Leningrad, the participation of the Baltic Fleet in mobilization and evacuation of people during the siege of Leningrad and other important historical topics.

The event will raise topical issues of preserving the memory of the war in the minds of young people - the future defenders of the Fatherland. The conference participants will discuss the use of new multimedia technologies to cover the historical events of the war in the museum, exhibition and educational activities.

The event will be the third within the framework of the research educational program “Let's Preserve the Truth About the War: A Chronicle of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 on the sea". The previous, second, conference was held at the Presidential Library on October 29, 2021, on the eve of the 325th anniversary of the founding of the Russian regular fleet.

The program “Let's Preserve the Truth About War: A Chronicle of the War at Sea”, calculated until September 3, 2025, the date of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, is based on the materials of the declassified military historical work “The Soviet Navy during the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945", created on the initiative of the People's Commissar of the Navy of the USSR during the war years Admiral Nikolai Gerasimovich Kuznetsov.

Accreditation of media representatives is until 12:00 February 21, 2022.

We draw the attention of the media representatives that it is necessary to forward applications for accreditation and arrive at the event in advance.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
