Poems and music about war, courage and love for the Motherland to be performed in the Presidential Library

On January 6, 2023 at 13:00 a festive occasion will be held for residents of besieged Leningrad and veterans of the Great Patriotic War timed to coincide with the celebration of the Day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege.

The organizers are the Administration of the Admiralteysky district of St. Petersburg and the Presidential Library.

A tour around the Presidential Library and a festive concert will be organized for veterans and siege survivors. Musical works by Dmitry Shostakovich, Isaac Dunayevsky, Georgy Sviridov and Kirill Molchanov will be performed by students and teachers of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory. Also, veterans and other guests of the concert will hear poems by Anna Akhmatova, Sergei Yesenin, Konstantin Simonov and Robert Rozhdestvensky.

The Presidential Library pays much attention to preserving the historical memory of the Siege of Leningrad. Every year, festive occasions dedicated to the feat of the defenders and residents of Leningrad are held in the library. The institution’s portal features electronic collection Defence and Siege of Leningrad, which has preserved the chronicle of this tragic page in the history of our country. The collection includes not only digitized documents, photographs and newsreels, wartime newspapers, food cards, leaflets, memos, but also diaries, letters and memoirs from the personal archives of siege survivors.

The event will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section, the institution's RuTube-channel, as well as on the Presidential Library's official page on the VKontakte social network.

Accreditation of media representatives is until 14:00 January 25, 2023.

The letter should contain the full name, date and place of birth, passport data (series, number, place of registration), a list of carry-on equipment, contact phone numbers, the name of the media.

We draw the attention of the media representatives that it is necessary to forward applications for accreditation and arrive at the event in advance.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
