29 November 2011

29 November 2011 in the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library famous Italian musicians performed musical masterpieces of D. Rossini, G. Donizetti, J. Verdi, A. Piazzolla and N. Rota. The concert was the finale of the II International Festival “St. Petersburg Embankments”.

In the final concert took part instrumentalist virtuoso, one of the brilliant representatives of the famous Italian clarinet school Giampiero Sobrino and the favorite of St. Petersburg public, saxophonist Federico Mondelci. The musicians were accompanied by the Archangel chamber orchestra, conductor – Vladimir Onufriyev.

The soiree was opened by the festival’s art director Maria Safaryants. She noted that the autumn concert cycle “St. Petersburg Embankments” continues the tradition initiated by the Festival “St. Petersburg Palaces” which annually opens new halls for the residents of St. Petersburg and its guests.

The hall of the Presidential Library is one of such places. The library occupies the historical building of the former Synod constructed in 1829-1834 in compliance with the design of Carlo Rossi.

The II International Festival “St. Petersburg Embankments” launched November 4, 2011. Since then St. Petersburg lovers of music have enjoyed the performances of one of the most popular lyric soprano Nicole Cabbel, the chamber chorus Lege Artis conducted by Boris Abalyan, Italian pianist Mauricio Baliini and other world famous musicians.

The first time the Presidential Library welcomed the festival November 12, 2010. That day in the library was held the opening ceremony of the Festival “St. Petersburg Embankments” and the performance of the American tenor Michael Spires.
