The heroic past of the cities of military glory will be honored in the Presidential Library

On October 26, 2017, at 11 pm MSK the Presidential Library jointly with the Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library named after M. Gorky will conduct “The cities of Military Glory: from Kalach-on-Don to the complete Victory” Interregional Scientific and Practical Videoconference, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the beginning a destruction of the fascist troops in Stalingrad area. Representatives of the Kursk Regional Scientific Library named after N. N. Aseev, the Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library and the Tver Regional Scientific Library named after A. M. Gorky will attend the event. The conference will be aired live on the Presidential Library website under the Internet broadcast section.

Conference participants will remember the heroism of our people during the Great Patriotic War, their bravery, steadfastness and selflessness of Soviet people, who defended their native land from the Nazi invaders. Particular attention will be paid to the territories that have been awarded the honorary title of the Russian Federation of the “City of Military Glory.”

Leading scientists from Volgograd, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Tver will appear with speeches. During the event, they will recollect the military engagement and the exploits of the young patriots who gave their lives for the freedom of their native land on the territory of the Kalach farmstead (now the city of military glory Kalach-on-Don), which was of an exceptional importance due to its geographical location and a room for concentrating enemy forces for an assault of Stalingrad.

The videoconference will close with a presentation of the wartime relics from Orel and Kursk belonging to the fund of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps.

An accreditation of the media representatives will be open until 2 pm on October 25, 2017.
