Society and Culture: Arts, crafts and jewelry exhibition, marking the centenary of Rostov Finift Factory, to be launched in Yaroslavl

On August 16, 2018 the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve is mounting a new exhibition “Finift. Marking the centenary of Rostov Finift Factory. The exhibition presents exhibits from Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve collections and Rostov Finift Factory Museum collections — about 400 pieces of decorative, applied, and jewelry art. The exhibition will be launched as part of “Refinement” (Preobrazheniye) festival of arts.

Finift — is an example of ancient arts and crafts of Russia, one of the most captivating and vivid kinds of enamel art. The history of the handicraft of Veliky Rostov is more than two centuries old, while “Rostov finift” phrase implies craftsmen dynasties.

Visitors of the exhibition “Finift. Marking the centenary of Rostov Finift Factory” will learn about the creation of Rostov finift pieces, see real tools and equipment used by factory craftsmen.
