Society and Culture: Lost literary works in the spotlight of an exhibition in the National Library of Russia

3 August 2019

The National Library of Russia, New Building (St. Petersburg) presents the exhibition “Is What Once was Lost Never to Be Found?”: The Books We will Never Read”.

Do we know how many manuscripts were lost and didn’t reach readers? Organizers of the exhibition will help to recreate works by using memoirs of authors, remaining extracts, comments made by contemporaries, and references found in letters. On display are published diaries of Lord Byron, letters of Alexander Pushkin to Delvig, Baratynsky, Pletnyov, Vyazemsky, materials related to Arthur Rimbaud’s oeuvre.

The exposition will be available until August 11.
