World Memory: Exhibition “Towards the Shores of Antarctica and the Arctic. Marking the 200th Anniversary of the Discovery of Antarctica” mounted in St. Petersburg

The State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) presents the exhibition “Towards the Shores of Antarctica and the Arctic. Marking the 200th Anniversary of the Discovery of Antarctica”. It will be open in the St Michael’s Castle from December 19, 2019 to February 28, 2020.

The 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by Russian navigators F. F. Bellingshausen and M. P. Lazarev will be marked in January 2020. The exhibition, which is timed for the Year of Antarctica in Russia, showcases about 100 items: paintings, graphic works, sculptures, numismatic objects, works of decorative and applied art, and folk art from the collection of the Russian Museum.
