The exhibition “Dear, respected house” is presented in Moscow Region. It is marking the 160th anniversary of A.P. Chekhov and the 80th anniversary of the "Melikhovo" museum-reserve.

The exhibition provides a chronicle of life of two houses in the Chekhov’s estate - the main manor house and its wing where the legendary "Seagull" was written. The photographs and documents tell the history of their restoration.

The Chekhov’s museum was founded in Melikhovo in 1940. It was a branch of the Serpukhov Museum. In 1944, the museum became independent. The main manor house was opened in 1960 after restoration, and the museum received the status of the state literary and memorial museum-reserve.
