Memorable Dates of Russia: "I am thrown into life ..." exhibition marking the 130th anniversary of Boris Pasternak to open in Saratov

February 11, 2020, the Konstantin Fedin State Museum (Saratov) will open "I am thrown into life ..." exhibition, marking the 130th anniversary of Boris Pasternak (celebrated on February 10).

It is the new exhibition of the “Opening Funds” series, marking the anniversary of Boris Pasternak. It will showcase previously unknown exhibits from the museum’s funds related to the outstanding poet of the XX century and expands the idea of ​​his work and connections with Russian writers.

The first meeting of Konstantin Fedin and Boris Pasternak took place in the late 1920s. They were close friends during the years of World War II while living in Chistopol in a large “writers' colony” during evacuation.

Some problems in relationships arose when Boris Pasternak wanted to publish his "Doctor Zhivago" abroad and around the following situation with the award of the Nobel Prize.

The exhibition features unique documents from the museum's collections - letters by Boris Pasternak and Konstantin Fedin's diaries, which will help to understand the ups and downs in the writers' relationships. The exhibition also contains rare editions of the poet’s books, his autographs, photographs, paintings, and graphic portraits.

The exhibition will run until March 2, 2020.
