Memory of Russia: Press conference on the creation of the Soviet Soldier Rzhev Memorial to hold in Moscow

March 3, 2020, the headquarters of the "Russia Today" International Information Agency (Moscow) will host a press conference on the creation of a Soviet Soldier Memorial. The memorial complex is constructed at the request of World War II veterans at the place of the fierce battles near Rzhev in 1942-1943. Its opening will be one of the central events of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory celebration.

The press conference will announce the launching of the campaign of collecting photographs of war veterans who fought in the Rzhev-Vyazemsky direction. The names and photographs of the Fatherland defenders will be used in the design of the branch of the Victory Museum, which will be created at the foot of the memorial. Everyone can provide the materials of their relatives who fought on the Kalinin Front.

The press conference will also feature the progress of creating a 25-meter sculpture of a soldier, that will be erected on a 10-meter mound. The main details of the figure are already installed on the supporting frame.
