Information Technologies and Museums: Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy Museum to launch an online collection of exhibits for the public exposition

8 April 2020

During the period of the temporary closure, the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy Museum launched an online collection of the exhibits for the public exposition. Anyone may take part in the creation of a new exposition. Photographs selected by the museum’s experts will enter the Museum's Media Library, which is a unique electronic archive of several thousand documents related to the 80-year history of the Exhibition.

In September 2019, the collection of exhibits for the public exposition was launched. Within several months, hundreds of people sent and brought objects from their families related to the history of the Exhibition: vases, badges, souvenirs, letters, and photographs. The most valuable exhibits were previously unpublished negatives, which showcase the sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich working on the famous high-relief "Glory to the standard-bearer of the World - Soviet people!".

The Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy continues to collect exhibits completely online. Those who want to share rare photographs, significant documents and other artifacts with Exhibition's visitors, may upload them in the museum’s media archive and keep the original at home.

The Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy Museum is a unique interactive exposition devoted to the history of the Exhibition. It presents historical pavilions, history of the complex, architecture, landscape, people and achievements. The museum has five thematic sections. The "Friendship of Peoples" section features the contribution of representatives of different Soviet republics to the establishment and development of the Exhibition. The "Parade of Victories" section is devoted to the life of a big country in the post-war period and achievements in agriculture, heavy industry, and other industries. The "All-Nation University" section presents a breakthrough in science - an issue of the Exhibition's special attention. "City of Miracles" highlights architectural pearls, and "One Day at the Exhibition" spotlights the main Exhibition's sights in different periods.
