History and Culture: "Faberge - the Jeweler of the Imperial Court" exhibition to open in the State Hermitage Museum

The State Hermitage Museum (Saint-Petersburg) will open the "Faberge - Jeweler of the Imperial Court" exhibition on ​​November 25, 2020.

The exposition features about 90 items by Faberge made for the main customers - Emperors Alexander III, Nicholas II and Empresses Maria Feodorovna and Alexandra Feodorovna.

Also, it presents costumes and accessories of empresses. Faberge began providing jewellery to the court in 1866. From 1869, he had been working in the Treasure Gallery of the Imperial Hermitage as a voluntary restorer within 15 years. Faberge enjoyed great favour from members of the imperial house for his works and a series of Easter eggs, unique in the history of jewellery art.

The exhibition is organized by the State Hermitage together with the Faberge Museum in Baden-Baden (Germany), the Russian National Museum (Moscow) and the Peterhof State Museum-Reserve.

The exhibition will run until March 14, 2021.
