Territory of Russia: Belgorod State Art Museum opened the "Russian Cities" exhibition

The opening of the "Russian Cities" exhibition took place in the Belgorod State Art Museum. It features 25 paintings with views of 11 Russian cities from the collections of the Belgorod State Art Museum.

First of all, there are pictures of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg - the capital cities, which attracted the particular attention of artists of all times. The exposition comprises the works by Anatoly Lebedev-Shuisky, Vladimir Sokolinsky, Anton Uspensky.

The separate exposition section presents the cities of Russian North-West and the Golden Ring - Sergiev Posad, Rostov, Tutaev, Pereslavl-Zalessky, painted in the second half of the XX century. Their authors are honoured artists of Russia Nikolai Tolkunov and Edward Vyrzhikovsky, as well as Maria Lomakina, a student of K. S. Petrov-Vodkin and specialist of scientific reconstruction of ancient Russian monumental painting.

The Belgorod State Art Museum provides a representative collection of paintings by Belgorod artists. The exposition includes the Belgorod landscapes created by the participants of the International Slavic Plein Air. It is an annual event organized by the Belgorod branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. It has been running since 2000 and unites professional artists from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Serbia and Poland.

The exhibition is intended for a general audience and will run until January 17, 2021.
