History of Saint-Petersburg: Exhibition "Neighbors" in the National Library of Russia presented rare books, engravings and posters about the history of Gostiny Dvor

On December 16, 2020, the "Neighbors" exhibition runs in the Main Building of the National Library of Russia (Saint-Petersburg).

The exhibition is devoted to the history of the oldest shopping centre in the city, the creation of shopping arcades and stores, as well as exciting facts that unite the Imperial Public Library and Gostiny Dvor.

The exposition includes rare books, engravings, posters from the collections of the National Library of Russia. It provides a lot of facts from pre-revolutionary reference books, guides, statutes, as well as fiction about Gostiny Dvor, including "Saint-Petersburg Gostiny Dvor, the Comic Opera" (M. A. Matinsky, 1799), Krylov's comedy "Fashion Shop" (1816) and much more.

For the first time, the exhibition presents the publication from the collections of the National Library of Russia - "Catalogues" of the XIX-XX centuries.

The exposition will run until December 29.
