Internet and Culture: Online expositions of Moscow Museums released on the Museum Moscow Online portal

25 April 2021

The Museum Moscow Online website provides online expositions of the Vladimir Mayakovsky State Museum, the Gogol House, the Darwin Museum, a collection of portraits of the Museum of Vasily Tropinin and Moscow Artists of His Time.

The exhibition "Vladimir Mayakovsky and the Russian Avant-garde", available on the portal, tells about the impact of the oeuvre of the prominent poet of the XX century on folk art and contemporaries.

The Gogol House promoted an exhibition devoted to the 185th anniversary of the publication of the Nose story in the Sovremennik magazine.

The State Darwin Museum provided the virtual exhibition "They Must Live". It features illustrations by the animal painter Vadim Gorbatov from a series of albums of the same name released in the 1980s.

The portal also has a collection of digitized paintings of the Museum of Vasily Tropinin and Moscow Artists of His Time. The exhibition "Portrait in Perspective" introduces users to the art of the portrait. The exhibits include works by Russian and foreign artists of the XVIII-XIX centuries - Alexei Antropov, Ivan Argunov, Giovanni Damon Ortolani, Ivan Makarov and Fyodor Nesterov.

Besides, users will have the opportunity to learn about exhibits devoted to mythology. The portal presents coins, clay tiles and bas-reliefs of the XVI–XVIII centuries with fancy creatures from ancient legends.

The digital copies of the exhibits of the Konstantin Paustovsky Museum, the State Museum of the History of the Gulag, the Multimedia Art Museum, the Museum of Defence of Moscow and the Alexander Pushkin State Museum are available online.

The Museum Moscow Online project is a virtual catalogue of exhibits from Moscow museums. Information about new exhibitions, pictures of rare items from museum collections and their descriptions are regularly improved on the portal. The resource allows users not only to view photographs of exhibits but also to create personal thematic albums.
