President of Russia: Vladimir Putin donated unique exhibits to the collections of the State Hermitage Museum

During the visit to the State Hermitage Museum, President of Russia Vladimir Putin donated to the museum collections unique exhibits created by order of Emperor Alexander II.

The collection of church plates is a part of the set for a Christian rite of the Eucharist. It was made in 1877 in Saint-Petersburg by order of the imperial court for the home church of Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna (later Duchess of Edinburgh) at the Claren House in London.

Also, the President and Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director General of the State Hermitage Museum, discussed plans for the development of the museum.
