Marking 2020 UEFA European Football Championship: Saint-Petersburg to hold "Apartment No. 60" art installation devoted to the victory of the Soviet team at the first 1960 European Nations' Cup

The Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines in Saint-Petersburg launched a unique exhibition and installation "Apartment No. 60". It promotes travelling back 60 years and meeting the events of football fest in July 1960.

Exhibition project "Apartment No. 60", supported by UEFA, will run until July 15, 2021.

Then, at the first 1960 European Nations' Cup, our football team won its first and the only gold in the European Championship. France hosted the final round of the tournament of four teams. The USSR team became the winner. On July 10, in a stubborn struggle, it beat Yugoslavia at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris with a score of 2: 1.

In 2021, the year of the XVI UEFA European Football Championship, the State Sports Museum invites visitors to feel the atmosphere of joy and celebration in Russia in the summer of 1960. The exhibition "Apartment No. 60" allows everyone to reconstruct the most significant moments in the history of national football and feel involved in this event with the help of immersive performance.

Elena Istyagina-Eliseeva, Director of the State Sports Museum, Deputy Chairman of the Commission on Physical Culture and Wellness Popularization of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, said about the project: "Apartment No. 60" combines a classic exposition, an art installation and an interactive zone. We recreated the life of that time so that each visitor could feel it and look at the life of Soviet football stars and fans. Archived photographs and newsreels of the victorious match will provide a comprehensive concept of history, information on legendary football players and, of course, unforgettable moments of the final game. The museum part of the exhibition, provided by the State Sports Museum, presents unique items about the outstanding achievements of national football. The key rarities are Lev Yashin's Golden Ball, which the famous goalkeeper received in 1963, and the 1960 European Nations' Cup".
