The St. Petersburg Museum of Siege Medicine will tell about the feat of civilian and military doctors who saved the lives of the defenders of Leningrad in 1941-1944.

"We devote this unique exposition to the feat of doctors, nurses and medical assistants who saved people in besieged Leningrad. We want to preserve the memory of the exceptional heroism of the residents and defenders of our city, to tell the contemporaries about the cost of the victory over Nazism", Vladislav Baranov, a museum curator, said.

According to him, the history of the medical service in Leningrad is still not well studied and is almost unknown to a general audience. Meanwhile, the work of hospitals did not stop for a minute during the years of the Siege of Leningrad.

The exhibition will feature rare documents and unique artefacts telling about the activity of the city's medical institutions during the Great Patriotic War and the work of doctors on the Leningrad and Volkhov fronts.

The museum will be opened on January 27, 2022 - Day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi Siege.
