History of Russia: "House of Romanov" exhibition presented at the Tula Branch of the State Historical Museum

14 September 2021

The Tula Branch of the State Historical Museum launched the "House of Romanov" exhibition, the main museum project of 2021, devoted to the history of the famous dynasty of tsars and emperors.

The exposition features relics of the House of Romanov, a portrait gallery of the dynasty's representatives, autographs and documents, orders and medals, weapons and items of applied art from the collections of the State Historical Museum. They represent Russian monarchs against the background of significant events in the Russian history of the XVII - early XX centuries.

The history of the House of Romanov is closely related to the history of Tula. Russian emperors Peter I, Alexander I, Nicholas I, Alexander II and Nicholas II visited this city many times. Empress Catherine II attended the Tula Arms Factory twice, following Peter I, who founded this enterprise. The Romanovs collected weapons and other items created by Tula craftsmen. Part of this collection is stored by the State Historical Museum and available for viewing at the present exhibition.
