Libraries and Society: Russian State Library to hold the International Scientific and Practice Conference "Library Science in the XXI Century" remotely and in person

The International Scientific and Practice Conference "Library Science in the XXI Century: Content, Organization, Digitalization, and Scientometrics" will be held on October 19-20, 2021, at the Russian State Library remotely and in person. The conference organizers are the Russian State Library, the National Library of Russia, and the Russian Library Association.

The conference aims to actualize and distinguish topical factors that stimulate the study of the library sphere, discuss issues of organizing and assessing the effectiveness of library science, and exchange of innovative practice in the digitalization of scientific activities.

The conference will discuss the following issues:

●       The role and importance of science in the realization of state library policy.

●       Scientific activity in the library: Regulatory conditions and forms of organization.

●       Library as a subject of research, and development and as an object of study.

●       Priority areas of library science, bibliography, and bibliology research.

●       Scientific publishing activity of libraries: Traditions and innovations.

●       The place of professional library periodicals in modern scientific communication.

●       Contemporary methods of assessing scientific activity.

●       Digital technologies in library science: Implementation problems and application prospects.

●       Training of highly qualified specialists: Problems and prospects.

The heads of libraries and their deputies for scientific (scientific and methodological) work, heads and employees of scientific, research, and methodological departments of libraries are invited to participate. The conference also welcomes representatives of state authorities and public organizations, cultural universities, educational institutions, scientific organizations, publishing houses, and professional media.
