State Duma: Remembrance Day of Russians who carried out official duty out of country to be commemorated on February, 15

On October, 21 the Russian government introduced the bill for the State Duma’s consideration, which specifies the establishment of the new memorable day of Russia – 15 February. This is supposed to be a Remembrance Day of Russian people who carried out their official duty out of the country.

“After the World War II finished nearly 1,5 mil. servicemen and civil officers took part in battles outside the Motherland and over 25 thousand of them were killed”, - the accompanying documents go on to say.

“The adopted decision will let to give the official status to memorable events, dedicated to Russians who carried out the official duty outside the Motherland. The veterans of the War in Afghanistan traditionally celebrate this event on February, 15, the day of the Soviet removal from Afghanistan,- stress the developers of the bill.
