The International conference on Paul Cezanne is taking place in the Presidential Library

On March 26-28, 2010 in the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library will take place the international conference ‘Russia and “Global Effect of Cezanne”, 1900-1950’. The conference is organized by Pyotr Konchalovsky Fund in cooperation with the Presidential Library and the State Hermitage. It is intended to analyse Cezann’s work as a single international style.

The forum’s subject – the development of the world painting in the first half of the 20th century and the place of Russia in the process – arose a great interest among the leading art historians of Russia, France, England, Germany, USA, Japan, Argentine and many other countries. The conference will have three session days. Its program was developed by Denis Coutagne, Doctor of art history, professor, Chief Curator of French museums direction, Paul Cezanne society president.

As a part of the conference a variety of master classes on theory and practice of art will take place. They will cover the subjects of insurance and logistic of art objects and professional expertise. Most of the master classes will be presented by the foreign specialist, guests and participants of the conference. In particular Marc Saylor, one of the leading PR managers of the USA who has worked for a long time in New Your Times will talk about the PR in the area of art. The collection of scientific works will be issued on the basis of the conference’s results.

A. S. Konchalovsky will also attend the conference. ‘It will be the first forum of the sort in a hundred years’ time that will consider the Russian art of the beginning of the 20th century in the prospect of the global painting and from the point of view of the art historians from all over the world’, - commented the famous stage director on the event.

Among other célèbre guests of the conference will be Philip Cezanne, the great grandson of the great painter. In his motherland, in France, Mr. Cezanne does a lot in regards of preservation of the heritage of his great ancestor. Other eminent statesmen and social figures are also awaited to attend the event.

The conference participants will attend the grand opening of the exposition of 18 paintings of Paul Cezanne in Hermitage and Pyotr Konchalovsky works exposition in the Russian Museum.
