Internet resources: Google releases applications for government
Google has unveiled a new edition of Google Apps – Google Apps for Government. The cost is $50 per user per year.
Designed with guidance from customers like the federal government, the City of Los Angeles and the City of Orlando, Google Apps for Government includes the same applications, with specific measures to address the policy and security needs of the public sector. Google is the first in the industry to complete FISMA certification for a multi-tenant cloud application.
Google Apps includes Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs and Google Sites (secure, coding-free web pages for intranets and team managed sites).
What is more, Google Apps for Government includes Video which enables secure video sharing analogous to private YouTube.
Google Apps was launched in 2006. At first these were applications for users’ domains. In 2007 came out an edition for enterprises followed by applications for educational institutions.
