Memory of Russia: All principal battles of Borodino will be reconstructed

198th anniversary of Borodino Battle will be marked by military and historical reconstruction of all the main events of September 6, 1812. The battle, which had lasted for 15 hours, will be demonstrated in miniature during 1 hour. 1000 infantrymen, 150 horsemen, 15 guns will take part in the “battle”, - said Larisa Berezovaya, Head of Mass Events Division of the State Borodino Military and Historical culture preserve, during the press-conference.

Since 1962 the event has been held annually on the first Sunday of September on Borodino field. Military and historical reconstruction of the battle is, of course, the most colorful part of the celebration. It proves that bravery and courage of the Russian army deserved the bravery of the great Napoleon army, - said Mrs. Berezovaya.

But the reconstruction of the battle is the final part of the event which will begin with the ceremony held at the monument in Shevardino village, at Napoleon’s command post. Then the ceremony will take place at the main monument to the Russian soldiers at Raevsky Battery. Usually the holiday is attended by the French ambassador and attaché as well as the delegations from different foreign countries. This year the event will be attended by 70 000 persons at the least.
