IT and Regions of Russia: Interregional Conference “Shaping a Common Information Environment in Northern Regions of Russia” runs in Noyabrsk

The Interregional conference “Shaping a Common Information Environment in Northern Regions of Russia” is running November 15-17 2011 in Noyabrsk, the city in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.

The purpose of the conference is to promote cooperation between libraries of northern regions of Russia in the area of electronic resources creation and improvement of library and information activities in these regions.

This event is held within the District Long-Term Target Program “Culture of Yamal (2011-2015)” by the National Library of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District jointly with the Culture Department of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.

The conference is supposed to touch upon the following themes:

- a joint catalogue for the region’s libraries;

- digital libraries: problems and prospects;

- building databases on regional studies;

- Information Technologies for access and preservation of the region’s cultural heritage.

Results of a district action for reading promotion “Yamal reads”, which was running in the autonomous district from January 1 up to November 1 2011, will be summed up on the final day of the conference along with an award ceremony of the winners of “Reading Promotion” district professional contest.
