A branch of the Presidential Library to open in the Nenets Autonomous District

In February 2012 the Boris Yeltsin Presidential library and the Administration of the Nenets Autonomous District signed a cooperation agreement. The result of the joint activities of the parties should be the creation of a regional branch of the Presidential Library.

On behalf of the library the document on cooperation was signed by Director General A. P. Vershinin, on behalf of the district administration - Governor I. G. Fedorov. The agreement will allow to solve the practical issues more efficiently, including those associated with the need to coordinate the regional integration of information resources.

In October last year, in Naryan-Mar, on the orders of the governor of the district premises for the future branch of the Presidential Library were allocated. At the present time, design work is being carried out.

While organizational and practical issues of opening the branch are being solved, the residents of Naryan-Mar will have access to materials from the collections of the Presidential Library. The Agreement provides that during the establishment of the branch, in the district will open a regional center of access to the resources of the Presidential Library on the basis of the A. I. Pichkov Nenets Central Library.

To mark the signing of the agreement, the library’s portal will publish “The Nenets Autonomous Okrug: the Pages of History" collection. The collection includes geographic, ethnographic, archival materials of the mid-19th - first quarter of the 20th century giving information on the territory of the district, its administrative structure and the life of the indigenous population.

The cooperation of the Presidential Library and the Nenets Autonomous District has been developing since 2010 and is running with personal involvement of Governor I. G. Fedorov.

In accordance with the order of the President of the Russian Federation of June 18, 2007 № 326, branches of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library are to be established in all regions of the Russian Federation.
