13 March 2012

Russian-American History Month is debuting in April in New York, where the Russian community makes a large ethnic group within the USA. This is an initiative proposed by the Russian-American Cultural Heritage Center, whose mission is to preserve and promote Russian culture in the United States.

– Official recognition of the contribution made by Russians to the historical development of the United States of America is an important tool for consolidation of friendly relations between Russia and the USA and fostering the role of the Russian community in the political and social life of New York, Olga Zatsepina, President of the Russian-American Cultural Heritage Center said.

As a part of the Russian-American History Month the Columbia University in the City of New York will hold a presentation of a newly-published book entitled “Russians in the United States: Organizations of Russian Emigration in 20th-21st cc”. What is more, there will be a series of events held in partnership with Consulate-General of Russia in New York and the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Russian-American Cultural Heritage Center supports an initiative to make the Russian-American History Month celebration an annual event.
