Exhibitions: History of Russia from Peter I to Pushkin presented in the Roman Catholic Church in Tel Aviv

“From Peter I to Alexander Pushkin” literary-historical exhibition opened in the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv.

In the showcases of the exhibition hall are presented biographical, documentary, artistic works which reflect the life and ambitious reform activity of the Great Russian emperor in all its manifestations. A special place is occupied by the section, devoted to reforms of Peter I in the field of Russian language, in particular, the introduction of civil font for printing of secular literature. The exhibition also presents the biography of the followers of Peter I – E. Dashkova and M. Lomonosov, whose selfless activity played a huge role in the formation of the Russian literary language.

In the section covering the life and activities of A. Pushkin, visitors are offered to make a historical background into the genealogy of the poet - great-grandson of Abram Hannibal, the pupil of Peter I. Exhibition is complemented by works of G. Derzhavin, N. Karamzin, V. Zhukovsky, V. Dahl and poets of the Pushkin's circle.

The artistic part of the exhibition is represented by reproductions of portraits of Peter I and architectural landscapes of Saint-Petersburg, as well as dolls in the costumes of the Peter’s era. The exposition is harmoniously complemented with Pushkiniana in a bookplate from the collection of the famous Russian-Israeli collector Solomon Tressera (Saint- Petersburg-Jerusalem) and the exhibition of works by young artists - participants of “Legacy of Peter”.

The exhibition runs till the end of June.
