Memory of Russia: Events dedicated to memory of the outstanding military leader Alexei Ermolov in Orel

Celebrations of the memory of the outstanding Russian military leader and statesman Alexei Ermolov were passed on July 27, 2012 in the town of Orel. The main event of the celebrations was the unveiling of the monument, funds of which were collected by "the whole world".

The model of the monument served as a "Bronze Horseman" by Falcone in Saint-Petersburg. The famous ancient sculptor has recreated the hero of one of the best portraits by George Dawe.

"The establishment of this monument is not only a historical event; it will be historical in 100 years. This is not only an architectural project. This event is cultural. We are again talking about the history, talking about the human dimension of the general, we are talking about serving the Motherland", - said Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Center of National Glory, Vladimir Yakunin.

A solemn commemoration of Alexei Ermolov was also held in Orel.
