Exhibitions: Large retrospective exhibition of Brassai in Moscow

21 July 2012

For the first time, the Multimedia Art Museum is hosting a large-scale retrospective of the legendary photographer of the twentieth century, Brassaï, the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters, holder of the Order of the Legion of Honor and the French National Grand Prize for photographs, whose images revealed most intimate secrets of Paris. The exhibition presents not only world famous photographs, but also drawings and small sculptures, including "Picasso's Head" (1948).

The exposition includes a few blocks of pictures: photos of Paris in 1930s, which had made Brassaï famous, portraits of great artists, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali, in their workshops; surreal experimental photographs of everyday objects; works of a series of "Graffiti" (1933-1956), "Nude" (1934) and the legendary album "Paris by Night" and "Mysteries of Paris".
