Information technology and archives: Electronic edition on the role of the Pskov Province in the Patriotic war of 1812 presented by archivists

In the State Archival Administration of the Pskov Region was presented the electronic publication “The Pskov province in the war of 1812 according to archival documents”. This publication was prepared in the framework of the plan of the major events, dedicated to the celebration in the Pskov region of the 200th anniversary of Russia's victory in the war of 1812.

On its creation worked the State Archive of the Pskov region and the State Archive of the insurance fond and audio-visual documents of the Pskov region. The book includes 178 digital copies of archival documents, which are deposited in the State Archive of the Pskov region. Most of the documents are published for the first time.

The documents tell us about the supply by the Pskov province of the 1st Infantry separate corps of Count P. H. Wittgenstein with food, clothing, medical supplies, donations of Pskov citizens and Pskov clergy, providing carts to transport ammunition, soldiers, provisions, opening hospitals, assistance to refugees from the captured enemy territory, taking care of prisoners and deserters of the French army.

A separate section in the publication is devoted to Pskov people - participants of the Patriotic War of 1812. It includes documents about 33 Pskov citizens, among them are such well-known people as M. I. Golenishchev-Kutuzov, V. S. Figner, I. P. Kulnev, P. N. Nepenin, I. M. Bibikov and many others. This section presents documents of genealogical nature, track records, formulary lists, service information, participating in battles, battle honors.

The publication presents the documents on perpetuating the memory of the heroes of the Patriotic war of 1812, about celebration of the 100th anniversary.

The electronic edition tells about the contribution of the Pskov province to the repulsion of the French invasion, with the patriotism of the Pskov people. It is intended for researchers on the War of 1812, for those who is engaged with patriotic education of youth, for all those who are interested in the history of their native land.
