13 August 2012

The role of the art in strengthening the dialogue between countries will be discussed by the ministries of over 40 countries of the world at the first open on August 13, 2012 in the capital of Scotland Edinburgh International Cultural Summit. A two-day conference will be attended by Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky.

The program of the event, which takes place within the walls of the House of Parliament of Scotland, is built around three strategic directions, organizers said. On the first day the main topic of discussion will be "the role of art in deepening and broadening of understanding of polysyllabic relationships between cultures and nations".

The discussions during the second day of the forum will be the exchange of views on issues such as preservation of private and public support in this area, as well as training for the creative industry and the role of technology. In addition to officials, the meeting will be attended by "outstanding artists, actors, thinkers, and those who are involved in the formation of cultural policy".

"A high-level meeting is an excellent opportunity for heads of departments to focus on the positive potential of culture and its role in strengthening the dialogue", - said Minister of Culture of the UK Ed Veyzi. "The conference will be an excellent addition to the program of activities in the country in connection with the Olympic and Paralympic Games," - he said.

"This will allow ministers to exchange ideas, as well as decisions on important issues that we face", - underlined, in her turn, the head of the Ministry of Culture of Scotland Fiona Hyslop. "The Forum will also be an excellent platform to demonstrate the wealth of the Scottish culture", - she added.

The key organizers of the event are the Government of the United Kingdom, the Scottish Government, the organizing committee of the International Arts Festival in Edinburgh and the British Council.
