Memory of Russia: “Defense of the Fatherland: Novgorod citizens in the Patriotic War of 1812” historical readings in Novgorod

September 18, 2012 the Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library is hosting historical readings, "Defense of the Fatherland: Novgorod citizens in the Patriotic War of 1812", devoted to the 200th anniversary of the event and the 1150th anniversary of the Russian statehood.

The readings are attended by representatives of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve, the Regional Scientific Library, the State Archives of the Novgorod Region, members of the Novgorod Society of Amateurs of Antiquity, heads of the regional local history museums. During the readings will be discussed not only the activities of the militia of Novgorod, but also the role of certain regiments and individuals during the Patriotic War of 1812, the role of the province in the preparation of human and material resources, and more.
