Society and culture: Exhibition in Voronezh is dedicated to the largest Russian publishers

At the department of rare and valuable books of the I. S. Nikitin Voronezh Regional Research Library on January 15, 2013 opens a book exhibition "People of thought and good", dedicated to the 195th anniversary of Kozma Soldatenkov and the 175th anniversary of Adolf Marx.

Soldatenkov Marx considered being one of the largest publishers in Russia. These are people with different destinies, who share a love for books. They have made a huge contribution to the treasury of Russian culture. The exhibition features rare books in various fields of knowledge. Many of them may not be exported outside Russia.

The exposition features a publication of Soldatenkov "A Guide to the History of Art" (1869-1870) by Franz Kugler. This book is the first study, generalized the entire well-known at that time material about the development of art culture from ancient times to the end of the XVIII century on a global scale.

The visitors are offered a published by the Soldatenkov publishing house "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" by the famous English historian E. Gibbon translated by V. N. Nevedomskiy. This multi-volume work was first published in 1883-1886 and since then has become a rarity.

Form publications of Adolf Marx at the exhibition are presented collected works of D. Grigorovich, J. P. Polonsky, A. P. Chekhov and other writers, which had applications to the magazine "Niva" and which opened for poor readers unknown to them names.
