Memorable dates of Russia: The Pushkin Day of Russia celebrated in Saint-Petersburg

The Decree of the President of Russia on June 6, 2011 states: “To make the Russian Language Day and to celebrate it every year on June 6, on the birthday of the Great Russian poet and the founder of modern Russian literary language A. S. Pushkin”.

June 6, 2013 (May 26, Old style) is marked 214 years since the birth of A. S. Pushkin.  The National Pushkin Museum (Saint-Petersburg) celebrates the Pushkin Day of Russia. The events will be held at the Museum Lyceum, the Lyceum Garden, and the Memorial Museum Apartment of A. S. Pushkin.

In the Lyceum garden will take place the ceremony at the monument to A. S. Pushkin lyceum student “Tribute to the poet”, the Memorial Museum-Apartment of A. S. Pushkin will host an exhibition of recent acquisitions in the collection of the National Pushkin Museum “As the state gets richer…”.
