History of Saint-Petersburg: The exhibition of lithography “City of Akhmatova”

June 5, 2013 in the Anna Akhmatova Museum at the Fountain House (Saint-Petersburg) opens the exhibition of Leningrad lithography of 1920s-1960s “City of Akhmatova”.

The main objective of organizers is to present the image of Petersburg, where Anna Andreevna lived and worked.

The exhibition gathered more than 170 lithographs of the Leningrad school of half a century of its history. The exposition includes materials from the private Moscow collection and museum exhibits.  The theme is chosen not by chance: Akhmatova considered herself real Petersburg citizen, her whole life is closely linked with the city on the Neva. “I alone in the world know the city, and I will find it by touch”, - she wrote.

The exhibition features works of Mstislav Dobuzhinsky – an artist of school “World of Art”, Anna Ostroumova-Lebedeva, Vladimir Pakulin, Vasily Sittaro, Yuri Vasnetsov, Alexandr Vvedensky, and Vera Matyukh.
