Libraries of Moscow will provide visitors with free access to databases of scientific papers of the best universities of the world. 70% of premises will be an open space, where visitors will be able to choose books themselves.

“We will provide access to databases of scientific papers as Russian universities, including the MSU, and the world ones, such as the database of the Stanford University, - said the acting head of the Department of Culture of Moscow Sergei Kapkov.

The pilot project will involve five agencies: the Library “Prospectus”, the F. M. Dostoevsky Library, the children’s library № 47, adult libraries № 171 and №30. The first two will be opened to the Day of the city, the other - by the end of 2013. In the future, the program is planned to connect to other urban libraries.

According to Kapkova, the time of the pilot institutions will be extended to 9 p.m. Now most of the city libraries are closed by 19.00-20.00. In this case, more than half of the books in the pilot premises will be in the public domain, so you do not have to turn to librarians to have them.
