Russian regions: The exhibition “The Penza region – to the Victory” in Moscow

August 30, 2013 as part of the “Day of Heroes – Penza residents in Moscow” in the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War is opening the exhibition “Penza region – Victory”, organized by the State Penza Regional Museum.  

The exhibition is dedicated to the natives of the Penza region, many of who have become known throughout the country. Among them - the political instructor V. G. Klochkov, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Soviet Union and the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces N. I. Krylov, the USSR People’s Commissar of mortar weapons P. I. Parshin, the first commander of the Airborne Troops country V. A. Glazunov.

The exhibition materials cover all areas of the Penza region during the World War II both in the front and in the rear. In the battlefield took part soldiers formed on the territory of the 62th, 338th and 354th Infantry Divisions, the 6th field engineer brigades and other units. The Penza region sent to the front of more than 300 thousand people, of which about 200 thousand never returned from the battlefields. Their names are immortalized in the “Book of Memory” in the Penza region.

During the war 52 plants were evacuated, almost everyone worked on defense. Here, in the war years was produced a variety of military equipment, including the famous “Katyusha”. Here 90 hospitals were organized. 

The exhibition also reflects the activities of representatives of science, culture and education. Artists of theaters and arts gave more than 7.8 thousand concerts and performances at the front, in hospitals, garrisons and villages. In 1943, the Odessa Industrial Institute was evacuated to Odessa. Now this is the Penza State University - the largest high school in the area

During the war, 52 papers, regional, district and factory were published, as well as the Penza works of writers and poets, printed posters, the Penza Art College continued to function. The Penza Museum is exhibiting a number of interesting exhibits. The exhibition is also complemented by objects from the collection of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
