Society and culture: Unique exhibition of works by Ivan Shishkin in the nationwide project “Your favorite artists” in Kostroma

A unique exhibition of works by famous painter Ivan Shishkin opened in Kostroma in the building of the Noble Assembly. It takes place as part of the nationwide project “Your favorite artists”. The exhibition, which is timed to the 180th anniversary of the master, includes the top 50 paintings and etchings of the leading provincial museums in the country.

In addition to paintings, the Kostroma exhibition presents drawings of Ivan Shishkin - his etchings. The viewer does not know it as well as painting. Often the etchings are stored in the vaults. And in the main exhibition there are only a few such works. Now, thanks to this exhibition the art lovers have the opportunity to get acquainted with the heritage of the great graphic landscape.

Most of the etchings came to Kostroma from the collection of the Vologda Museum-Reserve. Well, the museums of Yaroslavl, Tver, Cherepovets, Pereslavl and Rybinsk shared the art treasury with art lovers.

The All-Russian Exhibition project “Your favorite artists”, in fact - is a return to the traditions of the society of Wanderers, say critics. Provincial museums combine the best work of a master in the overall exposure and transport it in small towns. Last year it was the canvas of Makovsky. The following year is planned to arrange a traveling exhibition of works by Aivazovsky.
