Russian museums: The Multifunctional Museum Center created in the Leningrad region

The Multifunctional Museum Center is created in the Leningrad region. It will be created in the village Rozhdestvenno of the Gatchina district of the Leningrad region and the center will be the pilot project of restoration and preservation of the museum’s objects of cultural institutions in the region with the possibility of further implementation of similar facilities in other regions of the Russian Federation.

“The museums of the Leningrad region contain more than 600 thousand items included in the fund storage of the Russian Federation. These items are in need of restoration, and the new exhibition center, which is created in the Leningrad region will help to implement that”, - said during a press conference “Implementation of a multifunctional museum center in the framework of the program “Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage in Russia” at the Ministry of Culture of Russia” Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the Leningrad region Natalia Kononenko.

According to the Acting Director of the Museum of the Leningrad Region Tatiana Balt, the project covers four areas - Pskov, Novgorod, Tver and Leningrad. The center’s specialists will be engaged in the restoration and storage of museum funds, personnel training museums. In addition, their tasks will include logistic function. “According to the relevant agreement the Museum Center will be built by 2017”, - she specified.
