International conferences: History of Christian holy places in Turkey are discussed at the conference in Moscow

March 18, 2014 in the conference hall of printed music and sound recordings of the Russian State Library (Moscow) is held the International Conference and Exhibition "Holy Cappadocia and Christian holy places in Turkey". Conference participants will talk about the saints and shrines of Cappadocia, for the celebration of the Cappadocian fathers’ places in ancient and modern Turkey, the problems of modern pilgrimage and publishing. In addition, the conference will host an exhibition of manuscripts, which runs until March 29.

2014 marks the anniversaries of the birth and death of the great Cappadocian fathers and their followers: St. Basil the Great - 1635 years, Gregory the Theologian - 1685 years, Gregory of Nyssa - 1680 years since the birth and 1620 years from the date of death. This year also marks the 810th anniversary and the fall of Constantinople.

In the research department of manuscripts of the RSL are stored unique manuscripts depicting these saints and their works in Church Slavonic, Greek and other languages.
